Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary studies ‘Branding’

ADA — The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary met March 9. Luncheon tables at the Citadel were decorated in Kelly green for St. Patrick’s Day as the members assembled for the luncheon prepared by Capt. Lori Lucas.

President Martha Freeman called the meeting to order and Lucas said prayer before the meal was served.

Roberta Summers gave the devotion on Easter. She referenced several scriptures including Hebrews 12:2 and Matthew 28: 1-6.

Cindy Fuller, divisional marketing relations director, gave a PowerPoint presentation on “Branding.” Branding is how companies and organizations are recognized. A brand is a promise and the Salvation Army’s promise is “Doing the Most Good,” she said. This motto comes from an article written by the founder William Booth’s daughter in the 1800s in which she stated the Army’s goal is “doing the most good for the most people with the most need.” Copies of the Army’s manifesto were distributed to those present.

The nominating committee presented the slate of officers for 2007-2008. Officers will be Martha Freeman, president; Dorene Mcalister, vice president; Cindy Davis, secretary; Rebecca Walker, treasurer; Roberta Summers, chaplain; Pam Mauch, historian; and LouAnn Hoover, parliamentarian. Installation will be held at the May meeting.

The auxiliary approved sending six youth to camp in April. This is in addition to the children that are sent to summer camp.

Next meeting of the auxiliary will be Friday, April 13, at the Citadel. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, contact Lucas at (580) 332-1377.

Attending the March meeting were Joyce Gentry, Wanda Phillips, Evelyn Keefer, Roberta Summers, Shirley Nordean, Martha Freeman, Dorene McAlister, Rose Faerman, DeMarr Evans, Jane Muntz, Cindy Davis, Peggy Clark, Lou Ann Hoover, Rebecca Walker, Glenda DeShazo, Monica Stittsworth and Wanda Campbell.
