Camporee

The annual Arbuckle Area Council was held at Camp Simpson, near Bromide during the last weekend of March 2008. More than 70 Scouts and volunteers from Ardmore, Davis, Marietta, Plainview and Tupelo attended the two- night, two-day gathering.  Seven Scout Troops participated in eight events designed to build and display teamwork, sportsmanship, and Scouting skills. These events included tomahawk throwing, archery, fire building, first aid Skills, knot tying, lashing, and Dutch oven cooking.  Ardmore local business owner Steve Wright donated his time and Dutch oven cooking skills to prepare lunch for the Scouts and adult volunteers. This yearly event invites all units from the entire council. Above, Boy Scouts from Ardmore, Plainview, Davis, Marietta, and Tupelo prepare to begin a chariot lashing race. They will lash together a "travois" and carry one boy to the finish line. For more information about Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, or Venturers, contact the Arbuckle Area Council at (580) 223-0831.
