Authorities with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are looking for Jose Fransisco “JoJo” Torres in connection with a shooting death near Wewoka over the weekend.
Torres was originally wanted as a material witness and a warrant was issued. Now, investigators believe Torres shot and killed Jose Saba and the warrant has been changed to a first-degree murder warrant.
Seminole County Undersheriff Charlie Miller said Deputy Dee Deatherage went to Holdenville General Hospital for a reported gunshot wound. Deatherage informed Miller at 3 a.m. Sunday morning Saba was dead.
Seminole deputies located the scene of the shooting at the intersection of Main Street and Dixon Street just west of Wewoka in the Dixon Addition. Miller said the witnesses to the shooting were taken to Wewoka Police Department until OSBI agents could interview them.
According to Seminole County Sheriff Joe Craig, Saba arrived at a party and was shot within a few hours of his arrival.
OSBI agents believe Torres may be headed towards Houston. Miller said Torres got on a bus which stops in Oklahoma City and Dallas before reaching its destination. Torres had not bought a ticket from any of those locations. Officials presume Torres is in Houston.
“We’re looking for another guy that may have been there,” Miller said. He said the man was supposedly outside when the shooting happened and officials just want to talk to him.
Persons with information on Torres' whereabouts are urged to call either the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department at 450-257-5445 or the OSBI hotline at 800-522-8017.
