A Seminole woman died after she ran off the road into a creek Wednesday.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Brad Stuteville said Gwendolyn Ann Edgell, 68, was driving north on State Highway 3 two miles north of Seminole when the accident happened.
Edgell died from massive injuries after the 1995 Chevrolet she was driving caught fire and burned when it landed in the creek bed, Stuteville said. The cause of the accident and the condition of Edgell are unknown pending further investigation.
Another accident one mile south of Tupelo left one woman with multiple injuries. Ronda Gail Norris, 44, Coalgate, was driving north in a 1989 Nissan when she hit a horse which was standing in the road, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Steve Payne said.
Norris ran off the roadway after hitting the animal and struck two fences. She was taken to Valley View Regional Hospital and treated for head, arm and leg injuries then taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City and admitted in serious condition. She was not wearing a seat belt, Payne said.
