IRT helps out employees

Randy Mitchell Staff Writer

Ada With gas prices approaching the $4 mark, Interactive Response Technologies is helping employees with the cost of commuting to and from work.

The IRT executive team recently implemented fuel assistance for employees at the Ada location.

“After listening to the employees talking to each other about some of their challenges, this is what we’ve decided to do, and were thrilled to do it,” IRT Director of Client Services and Operations Terri L. Robertson said.

Executives determined the most equitable distribution and disbursement of funds would be based on where each employee lives. The further away from the call center the employee lives, the more assistance he or she is entitled to.

Officials believe this will bring the net cost of gas at or below the $2 mark for each employee based on travel to and from the center. IRT officials say they are excited about doing this for their employees.

“We’re looking to help our employees with the crunch that’s happening with the gas prices,” Robertson said. “We have employees that live 60 miles away. They’re good employees and they do everything they can to get to work.”

Robertson said IRT is also planning to hire 100 new employees and the fuel assistance will be available to them as well. IRT is encouraging employees to carpool to work. Those carpooling will still receive the assistance. Although IRT has two other locations in Florida and Houston, the assistance is being extended specifically to IRT of Ada.

“The other locations are more central and the commutes aren’t near as long as we see here,” Robertson said.

IRT will continue to offer this help until if or when gas prices near the $2 mark again.
