Saturday evening the very first Miss Teen Oklahoma International Pageant was held at the Stillwater Community Center.
Contestants competed in one-on-one interviews on a platform issue, aerobic wear, fun fashion wear, evening gown and finally, by answering an on-stage question.
When the votes were tallied, Brooke Harris of Ada was crowned Miss Teen Oklahoma International 2008.
Harris will represent Oklahoma at the Miss Teen International Pageant in Chicago this coming July.
A senior at Byng High School, Harris will promote her platform of Muscular Dystrophy Awareness during her year as Miss Teen Oklahoma and if she is crowned as Miss Teen International.
Harris is the daughter of Captain Teri Scroggins and Tim & Trisha Harris.
The Miss Teen Oklahoma Pageant is the preliminary to the Miss Teen International Pageant, which is held annually in Chicago, Ill. The Miss Teen International system was developed to promote today’s teens, their accomplishments, and commitment their community.
Around the world teens are finding this system to be an opportunity to work to become positive role models.
