ACT II presents 'Fit for a King'

Ada Community Theatre (ACT II) is presenting “Fit For A King”, an original comedy musical written and directed by Vickie Reifsnider with music and lyrics written by Rudy Lupinski, Darice Strickland and Vickie Reifsnider, on June 9, 11 and 12 at 7:00 p.m. at East Central University in the Dorothy Summers Theatre.

The twenty-nine member cast consists of the Ada area youth and drama camp counselors.  Nick Geisler plays the part of Herbert Whitley, a clock maker employed by Mr. Hampshire (Dave Reifsnider), who isn’t an entirely honest man.  Herbert finds himself gambling off his two daughters, Grace (Meagan Wright) and Melody (Julia Smola), to the tax collector Claude Redden (James Wallace) and the local banker Theodore Wellington (Steven Davidson).  But both girls have already vowed their love to Joshua Lovett (Tim Long) and Edmund Steiner (Nathan Wright).

Herbert also has a son, Benjamin (Ethan Lamb), who has imaginary friends and a wife named Helen (Kelsey Dial).  She is convinced that her husband has run off with a Jasmine Gomez the gypsy queen (Tori Blanchard), due to all the gossip spread from Nellie Beckner (Leah Creason) and Sharee Hawthorn (Emily Duty).

ACT II officials said they would like to thank Walmart, Citizens Bank, Vision Bank, East Central University, Chickasaw Nation, City of Tishomingo, Pre-Paid Legal and Angie Dean for their contributions.  Also, ACT II has been awarded a matching grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council (OAC) to assist in funding of this year’s Youth Drama Camp.  Without the OAC funding and corporate support, drama camp could not exist.

This is a family show for all ages.  Tickets will be sold at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Children 5 and under $4, student and senior citizens $6, and adults $8.
