ACT II Youth Drama Camp presents ‘Monster’ musical
ADA — Ada Community Theatre (ACT II) has been awarded a matching grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council to assist in funding their 2007 Youth Drama Camp.
The campers will perform two one-act musical comedies:
“I Want My Mummy” by Tim Kelly with music and lyrics by David Reiser and “Shake with a Zombie” by Tim Kelly with music by Bill Francoeur and lyrics by Bill Francoeur and Steven Fendrich. Both will be performed as one show. They are produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood, Colo.
“This is our seventh year for the camp,” said camp director, Vickie Reifsnider. “Our main goal is to promote youth involvement in the dramatic arts. The kids learn basic acting and stage skills, singing, choreography, makeup and some costume design.” Part of the camp involves a stay at Pennington Creek Lodge Camp in Tishomingo. Rehearsals and various fun outdoor activities are conducted at the camp.

Horror and hilarity abound in “Shake with a Zombie” when Mongo, a rock-chomping beast from the center of the earth, connects with bright-eyed Pete Berserker, proprietor of Pete's Luncheonette. The “Zombie” cast includes Dylan Cunningham as Pete, Makenzi Lamb as Marlene, Cali Stenson as Mrs. Berserker, Rachel Madden as Sara Lee, Meagan Wright as Georgia, Brooke Trail as Patty, Kiré Stenson as Maxine, Brittany Dawn as Lucy, Chase Berning as Skipper, Nathan Wright as Buford, James Wallace as Mongo, Steven Davison as Sheriff Billy Bob, and Dalton Dial as Dr. Judd.
Through state appropriations and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Oklahoma Arts Council funds over 1,200 events annually with an estimated total attendance of more than 3.5 million.
