ALLEN —The SH-48 bridge over Muddy Boggy Creek four-and-one-half miles south of Allen will be closed Monday, June 16, through mid-September as crews replace the structure.
The bridge is load posted, meaning a legally loaded truck cannot safely cross it. The bridge was built in 1938 and carries an average of 750 vehicles daily. The detour route will be along US-75 between Calvin and Coalgate.
In October, the Transportation Commission awarded a $4.3 million contract to replace the SH-48 bridge over Muddy Boggy Creek and the SH-31 bridge over Keel Creek.
