An Ada man received serious injuries after crashing a motorcycle one mile south of Latta Friday afternoon.
The wreck happened just before 1 p.m. on State Highway 1. Emergency officials responded and found 26-year-old Danny Collins unconscious just off the highway.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Keith Teel said Collins was driving a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle south on SH 1 at a high rate of speed when, for an unknown reason, ran off the road to the right and the bike began to slide.
Collins was ejected. Valley View EMS and Ada firefighters worked furiously on Collins and called for a medical helicopter. Traffic was stopped so the helicopter could land in the southbound lanes.
Collins was taken by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center and admitted in critical condition with head, internal and external injuries. He was not wearing a helmet, according to officials.
Other troopers and Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies also responded.
