Kiwanis Club of Greater Ada, supported by other local civic organizations and volunteers, sponsors July 4 day-long activities at Wintersmith Park Saturday.
Activities begin with a 5K and 10K run at 7:30 a.m. and culminates with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. The annual Fireball Classic 5K and 10K run and Family Walk hosted by Sunrise Rotary Club, begins at 7:30 a.m.
Ada Fire and Police Departments square off on the softball field at 9 a.m. in a game to determine bragging rights for the rest of the year. At 9:30 a.m., turtle races kick off Crazy Olympics for Kids where spectators are encouraged to have as much fun as the entrants.
A martial arts demonstration will take place at 11:30 a.m. Gospel singers and groups will perform and ham radio demonstrations will take place throughout the day. At 1:30 p.m. Crazy Olympics for All Ages begins and the Ada Fire Department will cool the crowd off at 3:30 p.m. with water sports.
A live musical extravaganza entertains the crowd at 7 p.m. prior to the grand finale fireworks. As in the past, this fireworks display is financed by donations from individuals, businesses and civic groups. Sponsors of the event say this year’s fireworks display will be spectacular with an abundant amount of fireworks and a fast-paced program. However, the fireworks display will be at a lower altitude than in the past and sponsors suggest the best viewing will be inside the park.
Kiwanis’ concession stand, miniature golf, train ride and merry-go-round will be operating during the day.
