Two separate traffic accidents Wednesday involved area residents.
The first accident occurred in Kingfisher County at the intersection of State Highway 3 and Calumet Blacktop. A 2007 Ford pickup driven by Rob William Schlup, 35, Ada, was driving south on Calumet Blacktop. He failed to yield at a stop sign according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jimmy Chaloupek.
Schlup’s pickup hit a 1998 Mercury driven east on SH 3 by Jo Rene Johnson, 50, Seiling. Both vehicles came to rest in a roadside ditch. Schlup refused treatment and Johnson was taken by Kingfisher EMS to Kingfisher Regional Hospital. She was admitted for observation with neck and internal injuries.
Johnson’s passenger, Jo Francis Johnson, 82, Seiling, was taken by EMS to KRH and admitted in guarded condition with arm, leg and internal injuries. Seat belts were in use by all, Chaloupek said.
The second accident was on Spring Creek Rd. 5 miles east of US 377 in Johnston County. Lisa Gail Robbins, 45, Connerville, was driving east in a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria and took a curve at a high rate of speed, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Miles Anderson.
Robbins’ vehicle slid sideways and crashed into a tree. Robbins was taken by Air-Evac to OU Medical center in Oklahoma City and admitted in good condition with internal injuries.
A passenger in the vehicle, Michael F. Hutcherson, 32, Bromide, was taken by Eagle-Med to OUMC and admitted in good condition with head injuries.
Anderson said both occupants were wearing seat belts and based on his investigative opinion, he listed the cause as unsafe speed.
