Valley View Cancer and diabetes support groups meet at hospital

Cancer

Valley View Cancer Support Group will meet Thursday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m.

Dex Carpenter, BSRN, Valley View Cancer Treatment Center, and Cathy Hennessey, LCSW, presents “New Clues, Hints, and Frontiers in Cancer Research,” focusing on how an individual's attitudes, beliefs, and self-talk can strongly influence his or her health.

Individuals will also learn how they can make changes that can positively impact their recovery.

The meetings are free and open to anyone diagnosed with cancer or with cancer concerns. Attendees are encouraged to take a friend or family member for support.

Meeting will take place in Valley View classroom 4 located on the ground floor of the hospital. A healthy, deli dinner will be served.

Diabetes

Community Diabetes Support Group, sponsored by Valley View Regional Hospital and Chickasaw Nation Healthcare System, will meet on Tuesday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m.

Christie Byers, Behavioral Health Prevention Specialist, presents “Motivational Ideas on Maintaining Your Diabetes.”

The meeting is free and open to anyone battling diabetes. It is also open to their friends and family.
