Boy Scout Museum established in Ardmore

Ardmore — A new Boy Scout Museum is being established at the Boy Scout Service Center in Ardmore.

W. Dale Stone and his sons, Dennis and Scott, are building the museum in honor of their wife and mother Jo Stone.

Dale, who has served in various scouting capacities for more than 65 years, has come out of retirement and moved back to Ardmore to become the volunteer curator of the museum. They have remodeled a room at the center and are developing it to honor scouting in the Southern Oklahoma area over the past 90 years.

Items displayed will be uniforms from countries all over the world, historical pictures of people involved in scouting from this area, Scout Handbooks from early scouting, history of scouting in the area, and a “Wall of Honor” which will contain the names of individuals who have and are supporting scouting in this area.

“You will have the opportunity to assist us in honoring our past and the people who have led in the character development of our youth,” said Dale Stone.

Scouting memorabilia and/or financial donations are being accepted to enhance the displays and history.
