Coats appointed as new Assistant Vice President of Valley View Ancillary Services

ADA — Valley View Regional Hospital announces Danny Coats, M.S., CCC-SLP, as the new Assistant Vice President of Ancillary Services. Coats was previously the Director of Valley View Rehabilitation and has over sixteen years of experience in health care.

Ancillary services include radiology, pharmacy, lab, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and speech therapy.

“In terms of growth, business development in these departments is a goal,” Coats said. “It is my job to stay up-to-date with cutting edge technology and practices so our ancillary services are the best we can offer. I love working at Valley View and am very excited to be a part of this hospital's future.”

Coats intends to identify areas of opportunity for improved customer service, add new ancillary programs, expand existing services, and embrace new technology which allows for the best care for our patients and positions Valley View to compete with larger organizations.

Coats grew up in the Ada area and after high school graduation attended college at East Central University. While taking “speech improvement” at ECU, he developed an interest in speech pathology. He then transferred to the University of Oklahoma to receive his bachelor's degree in communication disorders, then moved on to complete a master’s in speech pathology at OU.

Coats returned to the Ada area and took his first position as a speech pathologist in the Valley View Rehabilitation unit. In 1994, he began a private practice then eventually took a position at McAlester Regional Health Center as the clinical coordinator for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services. He was promoted to director of therapy services for Outpatient, Med-Surg, Home Health, and Cardiac Rehab. In 2005, Coats transferred back to Valley View to be the director of rehabilitation. He has also received a master’s in human resources administration from East Central University.

At home with his wife of 22 years, Sherri, Coats has two children, Wesley, 18 who plans to begin college at the Moore Bible College in the fall, and Lori, 16, who is a junior at Byng High School. Sherri is a special education teacher at Byng.
