Benefit to help Tish woman

Following an unfortunate July 4 accident which left Judy Duncan, 62, Tishomingo, injured, a benefit dinner will be held to help her pay for medical costs.

Sponsored by Pontotoc Masonic Lodge #136, the Connerville Fire Department, the Connerville Community and the Johnston County Courthouse, the benefit will be held on Saturday, Aug 22, from 5 to 8 p.m.

“She was crossing the street there in Tishomingo. It was after the Fourth of July parade,” Duncan’s neice Janet Poole said. “She was struck by a car.” Duncan rolled over the car from the front and came to rest on the pavement behind the car.

“She’s got two broken legs, she has multiple facial fractures and a skull fracture,” Poole said. “She’s got a long road ahead of her.”

Duncan is currently in stable condition in an ICU unit at a specialty hospital, Poole said.

The catfish dinner benefit will cost $8 for adults and $5 for children. It will be held at the Johnston County Fair Barn at 1501 S. Airport Road in Tishomingo. To-go orders can be made by calling Kathy Ross at (580) 371-5431 or Bruce Woods at (580) 371-5160.

There will also be a cake and pie auction, a live auction and a silent auction. Cakes and pies may be taken to the Connorville community center or courthouse.
