(AP) — Police have arrested Eufaula Mayor Robert Dean Smith on a drunken driving complaint.
Smith’s arrest on Saturday has been confirmed by a McIntosh County jail spokeswoman.
The spokeswoman says the 47-year-old Smith was later released from jail, but his bail information was not immediately available.
On Sunday, Eufaula police refused to divulge details of the arrest.
Attempts by The Oklahoman to reach Smith by phone were unsuccessful. Smith didn’t immediately return an e-mail seeking comment.
