Man, woman sought in shooting

SULPHUR, Okla. (AP) — Authorities searched for a man and a woman after a motorist was shot and his vehicle stolen at the scenic turnout on Interstate 35 near here on Wednesday.

Deputies called to southbound mile marker 49 about 2 p.m. found a man with a gunshot wound to the neck, Murray County Sheriff Darin Rogers said.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said authorities think the shooting happened about 15 minutes before that and that the man was found by a passerby who stopped at the turnout. The passerby contacted authorities, Brown said.

Brown identified the man as 50-year-old Keith Grimes of Gainesville, Texas. She said Grimes was flown by helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital, where he underwent surgery and remained Wednesday night.

Grimes was driving a black Dodge pickup truck with Texas license plates when the attack occurred, Brown said. She said the vehicle was found abandoned about two miles down the highway.

The man and woman being sought are believed to be traveling in another vehicle, a black and red Ford pickup with Pennsylvania license plates, Brown said.

Authorities don’t have descriptions of the pair or know a motive for the assault.

Brown said OSBI agents have processed Grimes’ vehicle and searched the area around the scenic turnout, looking for evidence.
