Child hurt in crash; helmets not in use

Davis — Two people were injured in a motorcycle crash near Davis Monday, including a child.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Daniel Arms said the child was a passenger on a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by James O’Brien, 28, Davis.

Arms said O’Brien was driving on a county road two miles east and two miles south of Davis when the wreck occurred at 9:20 p.m.

O’Brien swerved to miss an animal in the road, ran off the right side of the road, and the motorcycle laid over, Arms said.

The child, 6-year-old Isabella Bruchauser, Davis, was taken by Murray County EMS to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore and then by medical helicopter to Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was admitted in critical condition with a head injury. O’Brien was taken to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur and then to Presbyterian Hospital and admitted with leg, head and trunk internal injuries.

Arms listed him as stable and based on his investigative opinion, listed O’Brien’s condition as having an odor of alcohol.

A spokesperson for Presbyterian Hospital said Tuesday O’Brien was discharged.

Bruchauser was transferred to Children’s Hospital and remains in critical condition as of press time.
