School officials confirmed a dead body was found on campus this morning.
The only details released were that it was a male believed to be in his 30s.
Superintendent Todd Crabtree said school employees arriving for work on Friday found the body of a man who is believed to have lived near the campus. The body was found between the high school and the junior high.
School officials said students were kept away from the scene and were never in danger.
Pontotoc County Undersheriff Joe Glover said the matter is under investigation and they are awaiting results from the state medical examiner as to the cause of death.
“There appears to be no evidence of foul play,” Crabtree said. “Counselors are available at each site for students and staff members.
“Today’s situation is in no way connected to the custody dispute that resulted in the lockdown of the junior high and high school buildings yesterday morning.”
