2 people die in separate crashes

Randy Mitchell Staff Writer

Konawa A Wewoka man died in a crash two miles north of the Pontotoc County line Tuesday.

Marvin Galloway, 60, Wewoka, died from massive injuries at the scene on U.S. 377 just before 10 a.m., according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Choate.

Choate said Galloway was driving south in a 1982 Datsun when he drove left of the center line and crashed into a northbound semi truck’s rear trailer wheels.

The semi driver, Hipolito Perez, 28, Sapulpa, was not injured.

A passenger in Galloway’s vehicle, his wife Linda Galloway, 56, Wewoka, was taken by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in critical condition with head and internal injuries.

Choate said seat belts were in use.

A second crash occurred Tuesday just southeast of Kingston at the intersection of State Highway 70 and Muncrief Road at 8 a.m.

OHP Trooper Dusty Pruitt said the wreck occurred when a vehicle driven by Christopher Aaron Yeager, 16, Kingston, failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by another vehicle.

Pruitt said Yeager was driving a 1989 Mitsubishi pickup north on Muncrief Road when he was hit in the side by a 1999 Ford one-ton pickup driving east on SH 70.

Yeager died at the scene from head, trunk internal and external, arm and leg injuries. The driver of the Ford, Jose Dejesus Yanez, 35, Kaufman, Texas, was not injured.

A passenger in Yeager’s vehicle, Cole Michael Weatherbee, 16, Kingston, was taken to Integris Marshall Memorial Hospital in Madill and treated for head and arm injuries.

Pruitt said Yanez was wearing a seat belt but Yeager and Weatherbee were not using seat belts.
