Sheriff’s officials bust alleged meth makers

Randy Mitchell Staff Writer

Ada Pontotoc County sheriff’s officials arrested several people in the last week for allegedly making methamphetamine.

On Thursday, deputies were assisting another agency when they discovered an alleged meth making operation and arrested four people.

Deputies were called to a house in the 1200 block of Bolton Street in Ada to assist probation and parole officers serve an arrest warrant on Melba Foy Turner, 48, Ada.

After entering the house, Turner was located in a bedroom and arrested. Deputy Shandy Bynum heard a loud noise coming from another bedroom.

“I looked in the northeast bedroom and saw a male subject later identified as Joey Cooper (27, Ada,)” Bynum said. She said there was a white baggie and a green bottle of Novocaine on a table by Cooper.

“At that time, for officer’s safety, I asked Joey to go to the living room with the other subjects,” Bynum said. “Ada PD Officers Mike Baker and Richard Hubble arrived to assist.”

Bynum said Turner gave verbal consent to search the house.

During the search, officials found numerous drugs and several items used for making methamphetamine.

Among the items was a green bottle, filled with a liquid, with a hose attached to the top, a bottle of gasoline anti freeze, a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, a bottle of lantern fuel, a bottle of propane fuel, five pages of recipes on how to make meth, a used syringe, three spoons with residue on them, two pipes and two mirrors with white residue on them, several baggies with a white residue on them, a clear pipe with residue, hemostats, scales, pills and numerous other items.

Bynum checked a cellar behind the house and found several more items used for making meth. District 22 Drug Task Force agents were called in to assist with the search and removal of the hazardous chemicals and materials from the residence, Bynum said.

Deputies arrested Cooper, Alden Eddy, 35, Ada, and Tessa Northcutt, 33, Ada, on suspicion of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to commit a felony and endeavoring to manufacture CDS.

Turner was arrested on numerous warrants, possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to commit a felony, endeavoring to manufacture meth and maintaining a drug house.

Bond was set at $25,000 each.
