'The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry' number one in Ada

Randall Christy of the Gospel Station Network said Rich Christiano’s “The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry” was number one at the Ada box office over the past weekend.

“Christian movies, you know, are doing very well these days and this one certainly has,” Christy said. “The Gospel Station opened it in three cities in Oklahoma and it’s one of the top movies in all three of those towns. It was the number one by far in Ada, Okla., over the weekend. That means it should hold over for another week.”

Christy said he met Christiano, the director of the film, a year ago at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention while standing in line to get a Coke.

“We have been heavily involved in the release of ‘The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry’ nationwide. We have been launching mass e-mail campaigns,” Christy said. “We hosted the movie and these other businesses sponsored it. We used that sponsorship to buy newspaper ads and print hundreds and hundreds of posters. Ten thousand flyers were distributed at the Safe House at the agri-plex.”

Christy said he immediately recognized Christiano’s sincerity and dedication to the Christian message and wanted to help the film gain mainstream attention.

“It was really refreshing to see so many people flocking out for such a good movie,” Christy said. “Every seat was full and people were really into the movie. You could sense it and hear it.”
