Cars burgled over weekend

Ada — Police are investigating several auto burglaries which occurred over the weekend.

The first burglary occurred at an apartment in the 1100 block of N. Highland Friday night or Saturday morning.

A woman told police she left her purse in a friend’s pickup and it was gone the next morning.

“(The victim) said (her friend) must not have locked his pickup because there was no sign of forced entry,” Sergeant Kevin Hood said in his report.

The victim told Hood the purse had cash and checks in it and her friend’s radar detector was also taken. That same night, at an apartment in the 2000 block of B Street, a man reported his vehicle was burglarized and someone stole his TomTom One GPS and a bottle of cologne. No damage was done to the car.

Late Sunday or early Monday, several vehicles at or near Tanglewood Terrace and Terrace Gardens apartment were burgled. A man reported a larceny from his Chevrolet Camaro parked in the 1200 block of east 15th.

“When (the victim) went out to his car (Monday), the door was unlocked and the hood was open,” Officer Michael Jackson said in his report. “(The victim) stated that he thought he locked his door when he got out of the car (the night before).”

The man reported several items were taken including a Kenwood amplifier, a car radio faceplate, and a baseball bag.

“Inside the bag was a Nike catcher’s mitt, a Mizzuno fielder’s glove, a pair of Under Armour baseball cleats and his East Central University baseball practice jersey,” Jackson said.

In the 500 block of S. College, a man reported his vehicle was burgled the same night.

He reported his wallet containing $300 was taken as well as a lifetime Oklahoma fishing and hunting license, an Apple iPod with accessories, an OU watch and a Garmin GPS system.

In the 1100 block of E. 18th a woman reported her car was burglarized sometime overnight. She said the car’s backdoor was probably unlocked.

A Jensen car stereo faceplate and her apartment mailbox keys were stolen.

Several other burglaries were reported over the weekend, but some reports were unavailable by press time Tuesday.

Detectives are investigating the larcenies and are asking anyone who has information about these crimes to phone CrimeStoppers at 33CATCH or 332-2824, and they can remain anonymous.
