Miss Southeastern Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant takes stage

DURANT — Tiffany Legg, the current Miss Southeastern Oklahoma, and Taylor Woodley, Miss Southeastern Oklahoma Outstanding Teen, will crown their successors at the 2010 Miss Southeastern Oklahoma and Miss Southeastern Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Auditorium on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma.

The competition is an official preliminary competition leading to the Miss Oklahoma Pageant and Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen in June. Miss Oklahoma is a part of the Miss America Organization, which is one of the nation’s leading achievement programs and the worlds largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Each year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations make available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance.

The Miss Southeastern Oklahoma and Southeastern Oklahoma Outstanding Teen pageant is only open to young women who reside or attend school South of I-40 and East of I-35. This year contestants from all across the southeastern portion of the state are competing for over $15,000 in cash and scholarships. Those contestants competing in the Miss Southeastern Oklahoma Outstanding Teen pageant are Kristin SaeLim-Broken Bow; Alex Begley-Atoka; Rheagan Jones- Durant; Alex Leonard- Idabel; Chelsea Walker- Ada; Tari Adams- Broken Bow; Gabriella Woods – Coalgate; Brittany Trent – Durant; Cheyenne Cunningham-Broken Bow; and Rosa Ramos- Clarita.

Competing for Miss Southeastern Oklahoma are Sheila Craft- Norman; Haley Ellison- Durant; Rachel Denison- Idabel; Vashti Williams- Broken Bow; Maxie Combs- Madill; Laura Medcalf- Ada; Aleisha Stills- Clayton; Ashley Duncan- Bonham, Texas; Ashley Dodd, Roswell, Ga.; Amanda Hart- Bokchito; Kayla McKee- Idabel; Andy Ward- Durant; Taylor Burkhalter- Calera; Courtney Maye- Haworth; Katy Caudle- Ada; and Jozey Begley- Atoka.

This year the pageant will also recognize southeastern Oklahoma’s up and coming Miss America STARs. These young girls are age 6-11 from across southeastern Oklahoma.
