Ada TEA Party scheduled Thursday
ADA — For the fourth time, an area-wide TEA Party will occur at Pontotoc Technology Center Auditorium, 601 W. 33rd, Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6-9 p.m.
TEA Parties have been held either on the court house lawn as on April 15 and on July 2, but due to a town hall format, the third party was held indoors at the votech auditorium Sept. 11.
Holding the event indoors allowed the four speakers on the panel to be heard along with fielding questions from the audience. The panelists at the third party included those campaigning for Oklahoma State Governor position Sen. Randy Brogdon, those campaigning for Congressional Districts four: R.J. Harris and Congressman Tom Cole’s stand-in, and for Congressional District five: Dr. Johnny Roy.
The party this month will feature guest speakers Oklahoma House of Representatives District 84 Sally Kerns and Charlie Meadows, president of the Oklahoma Political Action Committee, a grassroots constitutional conservative organization. Others on the program are three panelists along with Kerns who are vying for citizens’ votes.
Candidates for Oklahoma regions four: Rick Flanigan and James Lankford, and region 60 Bill Hodges.
“I am running for re-election, but once I am in office, I represent Oklahomans statewide,” Kerns said.
A variety of participants for the party include persons leading the singing or bringing special music, a solo by Kenneth Hancock, “America, Keep Holding to God’s Hand,” bringing the invocation Lequita Sheppard, the benediction Kenneth Batey, leading the National Anthem Christopher Geisler, and the Pledge of Allegiance Kenneth Brumley, reading the scripture Bill Riggle, serving as moderator Dr. Ed White and time keeper James Allen.
Catherine White is the Ada TEA Party coordinator.
The program will include recognition of our military personnel who have served sacrificially to protect our freedom and an awareness of thanksgiving to the Lord for His sovereign will for our nation, said Catherine White.
There will be a question and answer opportunity for the audience to raise questions for the four persons running for office. One question will address the credentials of each of the four candidates to allow the audience to hear each platform so voters can determine who should receive the citizens’ votes.
Campaign materials and other publications and DVDs will be available at the end of the party. The ADA TEA Party Committee is seeking private donations to fund party expenses along with fundraising efforts of the sale of the DVD which compares five types of governance – oligarchy, monarchy, democracy, republic, and anarchy, and tee shirts with the committee logo.
The event is open to the public.
Another TEA party event is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce community meeting room on Main Street.
A TEA Party is also scheduled Jan. 21, 2010, at the Pontotoc Technology Center Auditorium and will host other candidates for state and federal elective offices. For more information, contact Catherine White at 405-941-3381.
