An Allen man died after wrecking an all-terrain vehicle Saturday.
The accident occurred on private property two miles east of Allen in Hughes County. According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Choate, 58-year-old Dickie Rae Clifford was driving a 2000 Honda ATV in a pasture.
As he approached a fence, Clifford turned abruptly and was thrown from the ATV.
The ATV rolled one time and landed on Clifford. He was pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet, according to Choate.
Allen resident and AEN employee Lea Ann Wells said Clifford was a fun-loving guy.
“He was well known in the community,” Wells said. “He will be sorely missed by many.”
Clifford was taken to Criswell Funeral Home in Ada.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at the Richmond Avenue Baptist Church in Allen at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Lula Cemetery.
