Firefighters from Pickett, Ada, and Center responded to a mobile home fire Tuesday on County Road 1550 southeast of Pickett that also sparked a grass fire which burned several acres.
According to a report from the Ada Fire Department, the fire started just before 11 a.m. and when Ada firefighters arrived on scene, firefighters from Pickett Volunteer Fire Department were already battling the blaze.
The fire started inside and quickly spread throughout the home. The flames touched off a grassfire which spread from the home and destroyed a horse trailer located behind the residence, the report said.
A brush truck and tanker truck were called in to help with the grassfire. Firefighters turned off a propane supply to the home and People's Electric Cooperative was called in to turn off electricity to the residence, the report said.
Firefighters were able to contain the grass fire and extinguish the fire in the home but the structure was a total loss.
Although the cause of the fire was unknown by press time, the owner of the home told firefighters she had been having problems with electrical breakers tripping at the electrical panel, the report said. The Red Cross also responded to the scene.
