Former Durant star Bo White heads to Southeastern

DURANT (AP) — A walk-on football player for the Oklahoma Sooners is transferring to his hometown school.

Quarterback Bo White of Durant has enrolled at NCAA Division II Southeastern Oklahoma State and plans to play for the Savage Storm.

White had moved into a dormitory at Oklahoma and attended two practices, but said he mostly just stood around during the workouts. He says he didn’t want to do that for two years.

He will receive a scholarship to play for Southeastern.

Oklahoma spokesman Kenny Mossman says it’s not unusual for walk-on players to transfer during preseason practices. He says it’s likely OU will grant White a release to play for Southeastern.

TULSA (AP) — Tulsa football coach Todd Graham says he won’t name a starting quarterback until after the team’s next scrimmage.

The Golden Hurricane scrimmaged Saturday with David Johnson taking most of the snaps while Jacob Bower missed the workout because of illness.

Johnson by his own admission did not play well in the scrimmage but Graham says it was the only bad day by Johnson all week.

Northeastern State AD Griffin announces retirement



Eddie Griffin resigns

TAHLEQUAH (AP) — Northeastern State University athletic director Eddie Griffin is resigning.

Griffin said today he’s stepping down October 1st and will become executive vice president and chief operating officer at the Jim Thorpe Association and Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.

Griffin has also been athletic director of Oklahoma City Public Schools and was wrestling coach at Central Oklahoma and at Clemson University.

He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in April 2002.
