UCO pitches shutout at ECU volleyball team

The East Central University volleyball team was unable to capture a set, though they came close in two of them, as host Central Oklahoma claimed a 3-0 decision over the Lady Tigers Thursday night at Hamilton Fieldhouse.
The Bronchos earned 25-21, 25-14 and 26-24 decisions over ECU, which dropped to 4-12 on the season and 0-3 in the Lone Star Conference. UCO improved to 7-10 and 2-1.
Katy Fields led the Lady Tigers with eight kills, followed by Emily Holombek with seven and Jacqueline Sparks and Jessica Bell with six apiece.
Junior setter Holly Hicks ended up with 19 assists as four ECU players – Holombek, Fields, Sparks and Megan Kimak ended up with seven digs each.
The Bronchos were led by Kristen Wilson’s 14 kills and Meaghan Wedberg’s 30 assists.
The next action for the Lady Tigers will be Saturday at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford at 2 p.m.
