Ada Junior High Football Report

Ada Wyatt Robson threw for two touchdowns, and Mason Girdley and Daulton Thompson keyed a high-powered ground assault as the Ada eighth graders pummeled McAlester, 34-6, Thursday night.

Ada's seventh graders didn't fare as well, falling to the Buffs, 28-6.

8th Grade

Ada 34, McAlester 6

Robson was an efficient 5-of-6 through the air, with John Stout catching three passes for 70 yards and Easton Pingleton grabbing the other two for 10 yards.

Stout's 35-yard scorinbg reception followed a 40-yard run by Girdley and put Ada (3-1) up 14-0 after one quarter, and Thompson answered a McAlester score with a 56-yard touchdown run of his own to make it 20-0 before Robson found Pingleton from five yards out to make it 28-6 at the break.

Girdley, who finished with 95 of the Cougars' 234 rushing yards, capped the scoring with a 35-yard run in the fourth quarter. Thompson added 90 yards on the ground in the win.

7th Grade

McAlester 28, Ada 6

Ada (1-3) trailed just 8-6 after Chase Lott scored from three yards out in the second quarter, but McAlester dominated the rest of the way, scoring the game's final 20 points.

R. D. Spence, Cason Teel, Jake Guinn and Royce Garvin all played well for the Cougars on defense.

“One thing about our seventh grade ...” said Ada High head coach Matt Weber. “... is that we have around 55 players on the roster and they all play. And I think that’s how it should be. Other teams we face play their top 11 most of the game. But at that age, I think it’s good to get them all in there.”

Both Ada junior high teams return to action Thursday, hosting Seminole in a 4:30 p.m. tripleheader with the freshmen Cougars.

Ada’s ninth grade squad travels to Carl Albert Monday at 5:30 p.m.

A scheduling error left Ada with two JV games, home against Plainview, and at Seminole. So head coach Matt Weber divvied up 40 players and split the games, losing on the game’s last play to Plainview, 25-22, on a 20-yard field goal and manhandling Seminole, 26-8. At left, Dionte Albert hurdles a pancake block by Cameron Gillispie to score one of his two TDs here last Monday night. The Ada JV travels to Carl Albert this Monday.
