(AP) — Here are the conditions at Oklahoma lakes as reported Wednesday, Nov. 5, by the state Department of Wildlife Conservation and lake rangers.
CENTRAL
Arcadia: Blue and channel catfish being caught on minnows treaded on a hook like a worm at 22-24 ft. Report submitted by Lawrence Wise, angler.
Overholser: White bass good on small white spinnerbaits. Channel catfish good on chicken liver. Crappie good on minnows. Report submitted by David Clay, game warden stationed in Oklahoma and Canadian Counties.
Thunderbird: Elevation 1⁄2 ft below normal and clear. White bass good off humps and points on in-line spinnerbaits, jigs and medium-diving crankbaits. Crappie good on minnows and small jigs at 8-10 ft. around brush. Report submitted by Tony Woodruff, game warden stationed in Cleveland County.
Wes Watkins: Elevation 11⁄2 ft. below normal, water 61-68 and murky with some clearing in the west end of the lake. Catfish fair to good on chicken livers, shad, fresh cut bait, minnows, worms and bait shrimp. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around the tower at the dam area, around structure, brush piles, boat ramps and docks. Largemouth bass fair on assorted soft plastics around points and timber areas, some action around weed beds and grassy areas; north creek area reporting some activity. Report submitted by M. Fowler.
NORTHEAST
Bell Cow: Elevation below normal, water clear. Bass slow. Channel catfish fair on doughbaits. Crappie fair on minnows an jigs. Report submitted by Gary Emmons, game warden stationed in Lincoln County.
Birch: Elevation normal, water 70 and clear. Crappie good on jigs at 6-12 ft. near submerged structure. Flathead and channel catfish very slow on fresh cut, live shad and worms below the dam. Report submitted by Spencer Grace, game warden stationed in Osage County.
Chandler: Elevation below normal, water clear. Bass slow. Channel catfish slow. Crappie fair on minnows. Report submitted by Gary Emmons, game warden stationed in Lincoln County.
Eucha: Elevation slightly above normal, water 53 and murky. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 14-16 ft. around brush and structure. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa Fisheries.
Ft. Gibson: Elevation 1⁄2 ft. above normal, water 67 and stained. Catfish working the banks this weekend and catching some good ones on cut shad and chicken liver. They are biting on limb-lines using sunfish and cut shad. Largemouth bass slow on crankbaits and plastic baits. White bass slow and moving up the river out of the main lake. Greenleaf: Elevation normal, water clear. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and plastic worms in creek channels and weed beds. Catfish fair on cut baits and stinkbaits on bottom. Hudson: Elevation normal. Largemouth bass good on plastics. Crappie good on minnows and jigs. Report submitted by Steve Loveland, game warden stationed in Rogers and Mayes Counties.
Kaw: Elevation normal and murky. Crappie fair on chartreuse and black 1⁄16 oz. tube jigs at 15-20 ft. over man- made brush piles. Blue catfish good on juglines with cut shad at 15-30 ft. off of main river channels. White bass good on crankbaits and spinnerbaits on windy days off of main lake points and riprap. Largemouth bass fair on soft plastic baits in Little Beaver and Otter creeks. Report submitted by Tracy Daniel, game warden stationed in Kay County.
Lower Illinois: Elevation normal, water 61 and clear. Largemouth bass good on spinnerbaits and topwater lures from surface to 2 ft. in weed beds, coves and road beds. Striped bass good on live baits at 1-3 ft. all along the river. Channel, blue and flathead catfish good on cut baits on bottom all along the river. Walleye fair on minnows on bottom at the mouth of the river. Trout slow on power baits on bottom at Watts Dam and Gore Landing. Report submitted by D. Tracy, Town of Gore.
Oologah: Elevation 1 ft. above normal, water 70 and murky. Blue catfish good on liver and shad around standing timber on the north end of the lake. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 10-15 ft. around brush piles. White bass fair on jigs below the dam. Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Rogers County.
Pawhuska Lake: Elevation below normal, water 68 and clear. Trout excellent on spoons and in-line spinnerbaits and good on power bait, and marshmallows with 16 inch leaders. Report submitted by Spencer Grace, game warden stationed in Osage County.
Sooner: White bass and striped bass hybrids fair on live shad and slabs and on topwater lures, sassy shad and ghost minnows in the discharge. Report submitted by Doug Gottschalk, game warden stationed in Noble County.
Spavinaw: Elevation slightly above normal, water 65 and murky. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around the dam area. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa Fisheries.
Webbers Falls: Elevation normal, water 57 and murky. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits, jigs and worms along riprap and creek channels. Catfish good on cut baits on bottom and drift fishing. NORTHWEST
Canton: Elevation normal. Crappie good on minnows and jigs near brush piles along dam and Canadian area. White bass and striped bass hybrids good trolling crankbaits and drifting shad. Report submitted by Mark Walker, game warden stationed in Blaine County.
Ft. Supply: Elevation normal, water clear. Crappie fair on jigs and spinnerbaits. Report submitted by Mark Reichenberger, game warden stationed in Harper County.
SOUTHEAST
Arbuckle: Elevation 4 ft. below normal, water 64 and stained, lots of algae. Bass fair to good on Carolina-rigs, crankbaits and shaky head worms. White bass good on spoons at 28-36 ft. around drop-offs and knolls. Crappie fair on brush piles. Report submitted by Jack Melton.
Blue River: Elevation normal, water 59 and clear. Bass fair on minnows and flies. Catfish fair to good on worms and liver. Trout fair to good on super dupers, rooster tails, meal worms and power baits. Report submitted by Charles Baker, technician at the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area.
Broken Bow: Elevation normal, water clear. Bass fair on deep running crankbaits at the mouths of creeks, points and islands. Catfish fair on juglines and trotlines with cut baits and liver. Crappie good on minnows and jigs around structure, standing timber on the upper end of the lake and the mouths of creeks. Report submitted by Dru Polk, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.
Eufaula: Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water clear. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits in shallow rocky areas. Blue catfish fair on fresh shad drifting the shallow flats. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 8-20 ft. around standing timber and under boat docks. Report submitted by Ed Rodebush, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.
Hugo: Elevation slightly below normal, water 71. Bass fair on minnows in brush piles. Catfish slow. Blue catfish good on cut shad around boat docks. Crappie fair on minnows around brush piles. Report submitted by Jay Harvey, game warden stationed in Choctaw and Bryan counties.
Konawa: Elevation normal, water 70 and clear. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits at 8-10 ft. along flats and points. Report submitted by Daryl Howser, game warden stationed in Seminole County.
McGee Creek: Elevation normal, water 72 and clear. Largemouth bass fair on plastic craws and crawfish colored crankbaits at 6-18 ft. along rocky points. Crappie fair on minnows at 12-20 ft. over cedar brush. Channel catfish fair on juglines with sunfish. Report submitted by Larry Luman, game warden stationed in Atoka County.
Pine Creek: Elevation normal, water clear. Bass fair on deep running crankbaits around creek channels. Crappie fishing has picked up, although anglers are catching small fish, they are catching many on minnows around the old bridge near lost rapids. Catfish fair on trotlines and jugs with chicken liver. White bass fair on spoons in deeper channels. Report Submitted by Mark Hannah, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.
Robert S. Kerr: Elevation normal, water 63 and murky. Largemouth bass good on plastic baits at 3-6 ft. in the weed and woody cover. Crappie good on minnows at 8 ft. along the edge of the old creek channels. White bass fair on jigs at 10 ft. below Webbers Falls dam. Blue catfish good on fresh cut bait, minnows and worms at 3-8 ft. in the standing timber used by the cormorants. Report submitted by Rick Olzawski, game warden stationed in Haskell County.
Sardis Lake: Bass good to fair on crankbaits around points and creek channels and around cover on spinnerbaits. Crappie good off of Jack Fork bridge with minnows and off of tower on live minnows, and on brush piles using pink grubs or green and black activity is better at night. Flathead catfish slow on live bait on jugs or trotlines. Blue and channel catfish fair on jugs and trotlines on cut bait or shrimp. White bass good trolling around islands and on plugs and excellent when found surfacing. Walleye fair trolling around islands. Texoma: Elevation 2 ft. below normal, water 70 and clear. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fair to good around the creek channels. Striped and white bass fair to good from Platter Flats south. Channel and blue catfish fair to good from the Hwy 70 Bridge north. Crappie fair to good in Kansas and Widow Moore creeks. Sunfish good around the fishing docks. Wister: Elevation 1⁄2 ft. above normal and murky. Largemouth bass good on crawfish colored worms and crankbaits at points and drop-offs. Crappie good on small spinnerbaits and jigs around brush piles. Channel catfish good on cut shad and liver with jugs. Report submitted by Randy Fennell, game warden stationed in LeFlore County.
SOUTHWEST
Altus-Lugert: Elevation 13 ft. below normal and rising slowly. Most fishing is improving. Catfish good to very good (in the lake). Bass have been biting around the rocks on minnows. Ellsworth: Elevation below normal and murky. Crappie fair to good at Ralph’s Resort on minnows. Report submitted by Mike Carroll, game warden stationed in Comanche County.
Ft. Cobb: Elevation 1⁄4 ft. above normal. Crappie slow to fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish slow to fair on cut baits. Report submitted by James Edwards Jr., game warden stationed in Caddo County.
