Wallace Christopher “W.C.” Derryberry
Wallace Christopher “W.C.” Derryberry, 77, of McAlester, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at his residence.
The family will receive friends during visitation from 6-8 pm Friday at Bishop Funeral Service.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Parr officiating. After a private burial at Wardville Cemetery under direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
W. C. was born in Wardville, Oklahoma on August 2, 1932, to Byron and Trudie Elmore Derryberry. He attended school at Wardville and Limestone Gap and married Willie Dell Sartor on June 27, 1953 in Kiowa.
He worked for 40 years building highways, managing crews, and overseeing safety for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, retiring in 1997. He was of the Baptist faith and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and gardening.
Survivors: Wife of 56 years: Willie Dell Derryberry, of the home; 2 Daughters & Sons-in-law: Debbie & Ron Harmon, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Donna & Reid Slaughter, of Dallas, Texas; 4 Grandchildren: Tyler and Joseph Harmon, and Story and Yale Slaughter; A Brother & Sister-in-law: Bobby & Joyce Derryberry, of Bolivar, Missouri, and numerous friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents Byron & Trudie Derryberry, 4 Sisters, Inez Wilkins, Jacqueline Williams and Janice and Betty Clarice Derryberry and 2 Brothers Junie and Buel Derryberry.
