KTC’s small business course designed to increase business savvy

From KTC reports

Would you like to learn some new strategies & techniques to improve an existing small business? If so, you need to call Kiamichi Technology Center and enroll in the upcoming Self-Employment Training Program. The classes will begin on Oct. 21 at the McAlester Campus of KTC and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for four weeks from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

“The class includes eight sessions that teach basic business techniques. Specifically, the classes will cover the following topics: Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Developing a Business Plan, Legal Issues & Risk Management, Marketing & Advertising, Recordkeeping & Tax Compliance, Financial Management, Lending Programs for Small Business and Technology for Small Business,” according to Karl Scifres, coordinator of small business services

“Those who will benefit the most from the SET program are those individuals who plan to start a new business within the next twelve months or who have an existing business and desire assistance in improving their business’ profitability,” Scifres said.

“One of the main purposes of the SET Program is to provide training in the areas of business planning and management in order to help lower the high percentage of business failures,” Scifres said.

For more information call Scifres at 426-0940.
