Richard Craig Fowler, 70, of Deer Park, Texs passed away Friday, December 14, 2007 after a year long courageous battle with lung cancer. Richard was born in Ada, Oklahoma on December 30, 1936 to the late R.W. and Etta Mae Qualls Fowler. Graduating from Ada High School and East Central University in Ada with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. Before entering college he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Boxer, aircraft-carrier during the Korean conflict. After his honorable discharge went to East Central, Ada. Immediately after graduation Richard became a contractor with the NASA space program in Eau Gallee, Florida. Later moving to Houston where he was the Director of Space Flight Training until his retirement in 1998. After their retirement he and wife Sue of 16 years began traveling around the country in their RV, they belonged to the Heavenly Sam’s RV club.
Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 16 years Sue Fowler, Children, Richele Lucile Fowler, Pamela Sharise Clostio and her husband Chad; Stepchildren, Neil Elliott, Torry Elliott, Donnie Elliott, Jan Eng and her husband, David. Sister, Raye Beth Ankersmit, Oregon; Brother Robert Fowler, Arizona; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carl and Linda Young; 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. Cousins Donna Richardville; Paula and Tom Buckley; Aleesha and Joshua Christian; Nicholas Buckley, and Jacob and Hannah Christian all of Ada.
Celebration of his life was on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas. Interment followed at Grand View Memorial Park.
Rich we loved you and were so proud of your accomplishments in life. You overcame many obstacles and never complained about anything. Always seeing the glass half full. Until we see you again. Your loving family.
