CHARLES SMITH
STRATFORD — Services for Charles Richard Smith, Sr., 49, Stratford, are 2 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Midland Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008. He was born Oct. 4, 1958, at Los Angeles, Calif., to Charles D. and Carolyn Dowdy Smith.
He moved to Ada in the 1970s and attended Ada High School. Mr. Smith was a plumber for Sandman Plumbing and of the Baptist faith.
He married Cynthia Tilley on May 7, 1988, at Reno, Nev.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Smith, Sand Springs; his fiancé, Paula “Kelley” Carpenter, Shawnee; his father, Charles D. Smith, Stratford; three sons, Gary E. Maynard, Granite, Charles R. Smith Jr., Soledad, Calif., and Randy N. Smith, Stratford; a daughter, Laura Cossey, McAlester; two grandchildren, Analysha Turner, and Brennon Turner; seven brothers, Steven D. Smith, California, Ronald G. Smith, Stratford, Jimmy Smith and wife Tonya, Stratford, Frank Joseph Gonzales, Shawnee, Charles D. Smith Jr., Stratford, Christopher N. Smith, Ada, and Matthew C. Smith, Ada; and two sisters, Serena Matthews, Sand Springs, and Andrea Rodgers, Modesto, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn R. Dowdy, a brother, Rodney A. Smith, a sister, Victoria Sanders, his grandfather, Charles W. Smith, and a nephew, Logan Smith.
Bearers will be Randy Smith, Tommy Smith, Tony Osborn, Mitch Selfridge, Doug Coats, Kenneth Raymond Smith, and James Nichols. Honorary bearers will be Brennon Turner and Paula “Kelley” Carpenter.
