BERNICE THOMPSON
ADA — Services for Bernice Thompson, 81, Ada, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Church of Christ in Ada. Officiating are Carl Johnson and Joe Hisaw. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at an Ada nursing center. She was born April 28, 1926, in Ada to Herbert and Katie Couthern Bowerman.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Ada. She was a volunteer for Ballard Nursing Center for 35 years, a seamstress and a homemaker.
She married Leonard Thompson July 9, 1941, in Ada. He died June 17, 2007.
Survivors include three sons, David Thompson and his wife Debby of Owasso, Harold Thompson and his wife Linda of Ada, Melvin Thompson and his wife Sharon of Ada; a sister, Inez Bowerman Richardson, Bay City, Texas; five grandchildren, Teresa Thompson Smith, Toby Thompson Butler, James David Thompson, Roger Wesley Thompson, April Thompson Spencer; 11 great-grandchildren; and special friends Rachel Jamar and Jessica Trease.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Thompson; a grandchild, Michelle Thompson Hopkins; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Spencer.
Bearers are Anthony Thompson, Roger Thompson, James Thompson, Roy Keever, Bill Curtis and Logan Spencer.
Honorary bearers are Raymond Tharp and Josh Butler.

ADA — Graveside services for Louis Lowell Choate, 70, Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Maxwell Cemetery, Christine Gillum will officiate.
Mr. Choate died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 29, 1937, in the Worstell Community, west of Ada, to Marion “Shorty” and Viola Gordon Choate. He lived most of his life in this area and attended Worstell schools.
Mr. Choate was a truck driver until his retirement and had served in the U. S. Army.
He married Connie Brakebill Sept. 20, 1970.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Choate, of the home; two sons, Tommy Choate, Ada, and Robert Choate, Ada; two brothers, Larry Choate, Oklahoma City, and Jimmy Choate, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Shirley Allen, Marynell Ronk, and Irma Jean Choate, and a grandson, Timmy Choate.
Bearers will be David Yerby, Mike Sanders, Blake Ronk, Mark Ronk, Scott Ronk and Danny Allen.

ADA — Graveside services for Claudy Lee Kanski, 70, Ada, are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bismarck, N.D. Mrs. Kanski died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at a local nursing home.
