ED CHILDERS
COALGATE — Services for Edward "Ed" Melvin Childers, 83, Coalgate, are 2 p.m. Friday at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel, Coalgate. The Rev. Bill Weathers and Jim Cox are officiating the service. Burial follows at Coalgate Cemetery.
Mr. Childers died April 21, 2009. He was born Jan 24, 1926, at McCarty to Andrew and Pearl Powell Childers.
He attended McCarty School and was a rancher and worked in the oil field. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 1198. He served in World War II and was awarded the purple heart and bronze star.
On July 14, 1947, he and Wanda Smith were married at Rock Springs, Wyo.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Childers, of the home; three children, Gaylin Childers and wife Lynn, Richard Childers and wife Debbie, all of Coalgate, and Kim Johnson, Owasso; a brother, Woodrow Childers and wife Betty, Coalgate; a sister, Florence McPhetridge, Norman; a sister-in-law, Dolores Childers, Coalgate; grandchildren, Justin and Andrea Childers, Marti and Brad Spears, Jodi and Chad Lackey, Jana and James Duncan, Bailey Johnson and Morgan Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Billy Taylor; his parents, Andrew and Pearl Powell Childers; three brothers and three sisters.
Bearers are Chili Joe Bills, Jerry Stephens, Guy Sartin, Jimmy Jo Wilson, Gary Vaughn and Tom Mayer. Honorary bearers are Ernest Paul Fanning, Joe Howell and Andrew Dority.
Family night is 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

BETTY STANDRIDGE
ADA — Funeral services for Betty Jo Standridge, 79, Ada, are 2 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009, at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home in Ada. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Ada. Officiating will be the Rev. Harold Ware.
Ms. Standridge died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at her home in Ada. She was born April 29, 1929, in Ada to Grover Thompson and Josie Gilmore Thompson.
She married James Kenneth Standridge on March 13, 1972, in Gainesville, Texas. He died Dec. 6, 2002.
Ms. Standridge attended Ada Public Schools while growing up. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Patty (Whitney) Thornton, of the home, and Diana Owen, Lawton; three sons, Ronnie Standridge, Oklahoma City, Sam Standridge, Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Glen Standridge, Oregon; her mother, Josie Gilmore Thompson, Ada; two brothers, James Thompson, Texas, and Raymond Thompson, Ada; two sisters, Doris Hand, Oklahoma City, and Bonnie Duffy, Ada; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kenneth Standridge; two daughters, Sherry Whitney and Carol Fravel; her father: Grover Thompson; one brother, Bobby Thompson; and one sister, Billie Cooper.
Bearers are Glen Walker, Richard Duffy, Tony Mendoza, Ron Wark, Bobby Sweet and Stan Briley.

ALLEN — Services for Kenneth Ward Jolley, 83, Allen, are 2 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Charles Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Jolley died Monday, April 20, 2009, at a local hospital.

GLENDA GILL
ADA — Graveside services for Glenda R. Gill, 72, Ada, are 1 p.m. Friday at Allen Cemetery, the Rev. Charley Mays Jr. will officiate.
Mrs. Gill died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at her home. She was born Nov. 1, 1936, at Allen to Ray E. and Dora Ozella Wilkinson Mays.
She graduated from Allen High School. Mrs. Gill was a homemaker and a member of Ada Lodge 119 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.
She married Laverne “Butch” Gill June 4, 1953. He died Jan. 30, 2000.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Gill, Norman; two brothers, Charley E. Mays and wife Janice, Fort Worth, Texas, and Jimmy Ray Mays and wife Nelda, Saginaw, Texas; two sisters, Diane Raney, Allen, and Janet Gum and husband Rick, Granite City, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
