MELVIN HOLLAND
JESSE — Services for Melvin Goodman Holland, 81, Jesse, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stonewall Baptist Church, the Revs. Jody Hamm, Ed Blackledge and Gary Jamar officiating. Burial follows at Jesse Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Holland died Friday, April 25, 2008, at an Ardmore Veteran’s Administration Center. He was born Jan. 10, 1926, at Jesse to Ed and Rachel Holland and lived in the Jesse area all his life.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of Stonewall Baptist Church.
He married Doris Mann Aug 16, 1945, at Modesto, Calif. She died Dec. 6, 1979, in Ada.
Survivors include one son, Eddie “Tubby” Holland and wife JonAnn, Ardmore; one granddaughter, Brandi Singleton and husband Travis, Ardmore; one grandson, Brent Holland and Lizzi Mize, Durant; one great-granddaughter, Linley Singleton, Ardmore; one great-grandson, Deacon Singleton, Ardmore; two sisters, Helen Barrett, Fort Worth, Texas; and Margie Gilstrap, Willis Texas; three brothers, Kenneth Holland, Fort Worth, Texas; Edwin Holland, Jesse; and Ralph Holland, Jesse. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Brashears and Louise Barrett, and a great granddaughter, Hannah Singleton.
Bearers are Doug Miller, Randy Johnson, Don Mann, Steve Hudson, Don Henry and Ron Bloomfield.

LINDA LONG
ADA — Graveside services for Linda Marie Long, 55, Ada, are 2 p.m. Monday at Egypt Cemetery, the Rev. Glen Eaves will officiate.
Mrs. Long died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at a local hospital. She was born June 16, 1952, at Hobbs, N.M., to Herbert Preston and Eunice Ivon McGee Vaughn.
She graduated from Vanoss High School and was a homemaker.
She married Tommy Long in August 1975. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Tonya Long, Ada; her mother, Ivon Bruner, Ada; two sisters, Marylin Parish, Ada, and Regina Harris, Ada; and one granddaughter, Gracie Marie Ragland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Daniel Clarence Long, and a brother, Jimmy Vaughn.
Bearers will be Kitt Long, Shannon Miller, Mike Wheat, Dennis Wheat, Blake Wheat and Jimmy McCaulley.

DONNA GUINN
ADA — Services for Donna Guinn, 75, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Bob Langston officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Guinn died on Friday, April 25, 2006, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born March 26, 1933, at Ada to Henry and Myrtle Thompson Hodges.
She graduated from Ada High School in 1951 and lived in the Ada area most of her life. She was retired from the Ada School System as a para-professional in special education. She was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the Ada First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Leigh Anne Yeargan and husband Jerry L. Yeargan II, Ada; and Vicky Whittemore, Ada; three sons, Roger Guinn and wife Brandi, Odessa, Texas; Fillmore Guinn and wife Phyllis, Glenpool; and Michael Guinn, Ada; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian Bassler, Yukon.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Hodges and Curtis Hodges, and a sister, Virginia West.

JOHN TUCKER
McALESTER — Services are pending for John L. Tucker, 57, publisher of the McAlester News-Capital. He died Friday, April 25, at his home in McAlester.
Tucker, 57, began his newspaper career as a copy boy at the Kansas City (Mo.) Times and Star in 1968 while attending Missouri State University.
After college, he went to work for Stauffer Communications in Nevada, Mo., as advertising director. He worked for Stauffer for 24 years.
He was named publisher of the Marshall (Mo.) Democrat News in 1972. In 1982, Tucker was named publisher of the Shawnee News-Star. In 2003, Tucker worked at the Edmond Sun as advertising director.
Tucker was named publisher of the McAlester News-Capital in 2005.

KONAWA — Memorial services for Adelia Marie Graff Dyer, 85, Konawa, are pending with Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa. She died April 24, 2008, at Oklahoma City.
