THELMA REDMAN



Thelma Lucretia Redman, a former Stratford resident was born May 7, 1913 in Electra, Texas to Charles and Alma (Keisker) Wallace.

She passed away April 26, 2008 at Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years 11 months and 19 days. She graduated from Aylesworth High School in 1931. She was married to E.L. Redman at Madill, OK. on May 29, 1932.

After E.L. served in the Army during WWII, the family moved to Ada. Thelma was a homemaker and a Sunday School teacher in the Beginner Department of the First Baptist Church. In 1965, they moved to a farm east of Stratford and bought a grocery store.

She helped her husband in the store until retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stratford and served on the bereavement dinner committee for many years. She held several offices in the Garvin County Extension Homemakers Club.

Thelma and E.L. moved back to Ada in 2002. In April 2005 they moved from Ada Baptist Village to a health care center in Lawton, OK.

She is preceded in death by her husband E.L. in 2005. She is survived in death by daughter and husband Pat and Bill Blackburn of Lawton, OK; daughter and husband Mary and Dean Emerson of Oak Point, TX; son and wife Tommy and Carol Redman of Ada, OK; grandchild Rick Blackburn and wife Jenny of Knoxville, TN; grandchild Bobby Blackburn and wife LeeAnn of Cordell, TN; grandchild Thomas Redman and wife Darla of Ada, OK; grandchild Lara Broadrick and Husband Weston of Phoenix, AZ; grandchild Daniel Emerson and wife Tracy of Malaysia; grandchild Libby Crookham and husband Paul of Princeton, TX; grandchild Josh Oats and wife Kim of Norman, OK; grandchild Amber Correll and husband John of Ada, OK; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister Fern Dunham of Durant, OK; sister Bonnie Green of Madill, OK; sister Kathy Sandefur of Madison, WI; brother Worley Wallace of Madill, OK; brother David Wallace of Yukon, OK.

Pallbearers will be Bill Blackburn, Rick Blackburn, Bobby Blackburn, Thomas Redman, Dean Emerson and Paul Crookham.

Services will be held Wednesday April 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Stratford, OK., officiated by Rev. Marvin Knox. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Ada.
