HOOT HUMPHERS
STONEWALL — Services for Eldred O. “Hoot” Humphers, 86, Stonewall, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home in Ada. Burial follows at Highland Cemetery, Stonewall. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard J. Blackwell. Military honors will be performed by Chickasaw Honor Guard.
Visitation to greet friends is 6-9 p.m. tonight.
Mr. Humphers died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Ada. He was born March 28, 1922, in Beebe to Dsvid Franklin Humphers and Sarah Bowen Humphers.
He married Velma Pauline Freeman June 11, 1942, at Tupelo. She died April 13, 2000.
Mr. Humphers served in the United States Army during World War II as a corporal in 131 Quarter Master Truck Company and received military honors. He was a lifelong resident of ths area and had worked on pipelines for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Randall Humphers and his wife Chris of Willcox, Ariz., and Eldon Humphers, Stonewall; a daughter, Ruth Kee and her husband Ron of Stroud; two brothers, Harold Humphers and his wife Lorlei of El Sobrante, Calif., and David Humphers and his wife Rina, Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Roberta Riley andher husband Bud of Auburn, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, Darla Forbis, Darrell Kee, Carrie Lockhart, Geoffrey Humphers, Jeremy Humphers, Amanda Humphers, Michael Humphers, Cody Humphers, Justin Humphers, Jon Humphers and Jason Humphers; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Humphers; a son, Richard Humphers; his parents, David and Sarah Humphers; two brothers, Othell and Lee Humphers; and a sister, June West.
Bearers are Justin Humphers, Jon Humphers, Jason Humphers, Rick Humphers, Greg Humphers and Michael Humphers.
Honorary bearers are Scott Forbis, James Lockhart, Darrel Kee, Geoffrey Humphers, Jeremy Humphers and the crew of Stallings Construction Company.

SPEARVILLE, Kan. — Services for Kenneth J. Strecker, 51, Spearville, are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Church, Spearville.
He died April 30, 2008, at Kansas City, Kan.
