J.R. LINKER JR.

CENTRAHOMA — Services for John Robert “J.R.” Linker Jr., 88, Centrahoma, are 2 p.m. Tuesday, May6, 2008, at Tupelo First Baptist Church in Tupelo. Burial follows at Centrahoma Cemetery, Centrahoma. Officiating will be the Rev. Bob Graham and assisting will be the Rev. Tony Randoll.

Chickasaw Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Mr. Linker died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at an Ada hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1919, at Centrahoma to John Robert Sr. and Ada Mildred Vick Linker.

He grew up in Centrahoma and attended Centrahoma Schools. Mr. Linker served in the United States Army during World War II. He served in North Africa, Germany, Italy, France and made five amphibian landings. He was a member and deacon of Tupelo First Baptist Church and a farmer.

Mr. Linker married Maxine M. Johnson July 11, 1945, in Coalgate, at the Coalgate Methodist Church. She died Dec. 18, 2006.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Janette Linker, Tupelo, and Robin Ballard and her husband Mike, Tupelo; two brothers, Robert Linker and his wife Dee of Lawton, Boyd Linker and his wife of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Wanda Park, Durant; three grandchildren, Vonnita Ruiz and husband Paul of Phoenix, Ariz., Scott Ballard of Tupelo, Jake Ballard and wife Kathy of Ada; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Maxine Linker; a sister, Larea Litaker and one brother, Evertt Linker; and seven half brothers and sisters and parents.

Bearers are Jo Batchelor, B.E. Romines, Jackie Turner, Jerry Romines, Kenny Carroll and Pee Wee Bowerman.

Honorary bearers are A.A. Howell, Bobby Hyatt, Larry Ferguson and Roy Deck.

COALGATE — Services for Celia Barnett, 90, Coalgate, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Burial follows at Moore Cemetery.

She died May 2, 2008.

LUCILLE MOON

ALLEN — Services for Lucille Moon, 87, Allen, are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Charles Kymes will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Mrs. Moon died Saturday, May 4, 2008, at an Allen nursing home. She was born Aug. 2, 1920 at Jerusalem, Ark., to James Monroe and Cynthia Allie Byers Chism.

She and her family came to this area by wagon when she was 4 years old and settled in Francis. She graduated from Francis High School and lived in Francis the remainder of her life.

Mrs. Moon was a licensed practical nurse at Valley View Regional Hospital for more than 30 years and a member of Church of Christ.

She married Mirl Moon Sept. 15, 1941. He died in 2001.

Survivors include a son, Joe Moon and wife Glenda, Francis; a granddaughter, Tina Moon, Shawnee; three grandsons, Steve Moon and wife Shannon, Sheridan, Ark., Stephen Khoury and wife Shannan, Sherman, Texas, and Philip Khoury and wife Missy, Konawa; three great-grandsons, Jackson, Tyler, and Carter; four great-granddaughters, Ashleigh, Danielle, Lauren, and Katherine; a sister, Hazel Kymes and husband Lester, Ada; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, including the special staff of Woodland Hills Nursing Center in Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Monroe Chism and Cynthia Allie Byers Chism, and brothers, Duel, John, Tollie, Alvin, Leo and Cleo Chism.

Bearers will be Kenneth Chism, Dennis Kymes, Chuck Lancaster, James Cecil Moon, Bob Carter, and Stephen Khoury.

TERRY HILLMAN

TULSA — Services for Terry Don Hillman, 62, Tulsa, are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Gary Jamar will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Hillman died Friday, May 2, 2008, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1946 at Ada to Woodrow and Kathryn Louise Selman Hillman.

He graduated from Ada High School in 1964 and East Central University. Mr. Hillman was a U. S. Postal Service employee until his retirement. He was of the Methodist faith and had served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1967 until 1969. He served in Vietnam for 13 months.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie Day and husband John, Broken Arrow; a son, Nathan Hillman, Ada; four grandchildren, Haley Hillman, Breanna Hillman, Shelbi Day, and Chloe Day; one brother, Joe Hillman and wife Ronda, Shawnee; and one sister, Barbara Shahan and husband Alvin Carol, Fitzhugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Larry “Butch” Hillman on May 5, 1993.

Bearers will be Ron Hillman, John Hillman, Clate Hillman, John Day, Jimmy Fletcher, Bob Kelso, and David Hammond.
