LAURA HEATLEY
OKLAHOMA CITY — Laura McKoy Allen Heatley, 87, resident of Oklahoma City, died Saturday, May 23, 2009. Her husband, E. Philip Allen, preceded Laura in death. Later, she remarried and is survived by her husband, E. Robert Heatley.
She was born on the family ranch in Stonewall, Dec. 29, 1921, the youngest of five children, to John H. McKoy and Cecilia Burris McKoy. She was a granddaughter of Colbert Ashalatubby Burris, a leader in the Chickasaw Nation. Ms. Heatley attended University High School in Norman and the University of Oklahoma, where she received her bachelor of science degree. She then attended Central State University and graduated with master’s degrees in school administration and counseling and guidance. She was a teacher and counselor at John Marshall High School and later served as a vice principal in the Oklahoma City school district.
Ms. Heatley was a member of many professional and service organizations, which include Chi Omega Sorority, Junior League of Oklahoma City, P.E.O. Chapter CK, Twentieth Century Club, Mayfair Dance Club, and The Thursday Book Club. She was also a member of Oklahoma City Boat Club. As a life-long Methodist, she was a member of the Nichols Hills United Methodist Church for approximately 49 years, later transferring her membership to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where she was a Stephens Minister, and was a greeter.
Her parents, two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, E. Robert, of the home; four children from her previous marriage: Edward P. Allen III and wife Sue of Stonewall; Cecilia Gosting and husband Don Gosting of Dallas, Texas; John Raybourn Allen and wife Kathy of Russellville, Ark.; and Gerald Roger Allen and wife Cindy of Enid; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church located at 2717 West Hefner Road. A reception will be held following the service with all invited.
No flowers; however, donations may be made in her name to the charity of one’s choice.

DESSIE LARMAN
STRATFORD — Services for Dessie Aline Larman, 88, Byars, are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Galey Baptist Church, officiated by the Revs. Randy McCown and Phillip Mullins. Burial follows at Byars Cemetery, Byars.
Mrs. Larman died May 25, 2009, at Ada. She was born July 6, 1920, at Byars to Griff and Eula Audrey Rippee Harmon.
She married Clarence B. Larman in Byars Sept. 10, 1938.
She lived all her life in the Byars area and was a homemaker and a member of Galey Baptist Church, Byars School class of 1938, Galey Extension Homemakers Group in Pontotoc County. She worked at Bluebell in Shawnee in the 1950s and 1960s.
Mrs. Larman was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, and sister Tajuana Dedmon.
Survivors include a son, Gary Larman and wife Wray, Coyle; a daughter, Theresa Marsolf and husband Merle, Byars; four grandchildren, Sandra Lackey and husband Paul, Ardmore, Randall Bleer and wife Sherry, Velma, Audrey Harmon and husband Burton, Morrison, and Monty Larman and wife Julie, Orlando, Okla.; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Byars Cemetery in care of City Hall, Byars.
