FLOYD WILKINS
NEWALLA — Funeral services for Floyd L. Wilkins, 90, Newalla, will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Latta. Burial follows at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Ardmore. Officiating will be the Rev. Gary Jamar.
Viewing will begin Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home from 10 a.m until 8 p.m.
Mr. Wilkins died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Shawnee. He was born Dec. 4, 1918, in Noble County to James Leroy Wilkins and Fannie Blanche Siler Wilkins.
He married Norma Willerton on March 4, 1944, in Ponca City. She died Aug. 10, 2005.
Mr. Wilkins moved to this area in 1979 from Fox. He retired from Shell Oil Company in 1980 after many years of service. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Latta.
Survivors include one son, Melvin Eugene Wilkins and his wife Winellen, Newalla; one daughter, Karen Elaine Alexander and her husband Mark, Fairland, Okla.; and three grandchildren, Jay and Jill Alexander, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jordan Alexander, Fairland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Wilkins; his parents, James and Fannie Wilkins; a brother, Frank Wilkins; and two sisters, Ethel Rupe and Edna Mae Griffith.
Bearers are Jay, Jordan, and Jill Alexander, Jim Jackson, Jack Aday and Otis Martin.
