— Bonnie (Kessinger) Christian, 67, passed away on June 24, 2008 at her home in Collinsville, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Pruitt officiating. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Bonnie was born on June 19, 1941 in Spring Hill, WV, to Ray Kessinger and Glada (Womack) Kessinger. She attended school in Charleston, WV before moving to Oklahoma and attending school at Byng High School, north of Ada, OK. She was married to Lawrence Christian in Madill, OK on April 18, 1959. She worked many years as a nurse's aide in Stillwater, OK and in Las Cruses, NM.
She walked up the Statue of Liberty in New York City, rode her wheel chair up the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France and toured the Vatican in Rome, Italy.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Christian; daughter Cecilia Christian of Houston, TX; sons, Lawrence Christian Jr. of Houston, TX and David Christian of Collinsville, TX; grandchildren Stephanie and Willie Lyons of Houston, TX and Tatiana Christian of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by her father Ray Kessinger, mother Glada Womack, sister, Billie Ray Keyser, and daughter, Stephanie Lynn Christian.
Family members include her stepmother Juanita Kessinger of Ada, OK, uncle Clarence and his wife Wanda Kessinger, and their children Buddy Kessinger and Carol Sue Brumley of Ada, OK; sisters, Becky McCallister and Betty Meadows of West Virginia; and one aunt, Gladys Hudson of West Virginia.
Her friends from Las Cruces, NM, Eugene and Susan DeArmond, Jerry and Peggy Wood and Virginia Gustafson said, "She will be dearly missed and will forever remain in our hearts."
She was a loving mother and wife and will be in our hearts forever.
