ADA — Memorial services will be held at a later date for James Carter Williams, 67, Ada.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at his home. He was born April 10, 1941, at Ada to James Joseph “Jim” and Zelma Carter Williams.
He graduated from Ada High School, attended East Central University and graduated from Central State College (University of Central Oklahoma) with a bachelor's degree.
Mr. Williams was a floor covering and carpet salesman and had served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years.
He married Gayla McIntire.
Survivors include a son, Evan Williams, of the home; a stepdaughter, Dondi Laverty, Broken Arrow; a special friend, Lee McGehee, Ada; three brothers, Kirby Williams and wife Mary Sue, Joshua, Texas, Jim Haley and wife Peggy, Ada, and Joe Williams and wife Doris, Byng; a sister, Kay Haley, Ada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Williams, his mother, Zelma Carter Haley, his step-father, T. H. “T-Bone” Haley, and a brother, Jack Wayne “Short” Haley.

ADA — Memorial services for David Lane Duty, 50, Ada, are 3 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, the Rev. Vicki Crooks will officiate.
Mr. Duty died Monday, June 23, 2008, at his home. He was born May 26, 1958, at Texas City, Texas, to Richard and Sue Smith Duty.
He attended Washington Elementary in Ada, graduated from Topeka High School, in Kansas and spent time in Texas attending the University of North Texas before returning to Ada.
He married Kathleen Duty on March 13, 1992, in Texas.
Mr. Duty was one-fourth Chickasaw and a direct descendant of former Gov. Palmer Mosely. He was employed at the Chickasaw Nation and had served in the United States Marine Corps from January 1980 until January 1984. He was a member and deacon at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ada.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Duty, of the home; five children, Andrew Lee Duty, Katelyn Brittany Duty, Madelyn Sue Duty, Emily Grace Duty, and Hannah Faith Duty, all of the home; his father, Richard Duty and wife Betty, Ada; sister, Teresa Duty, Santa Fe, N.M.; sister, Holly Easterling, Ada, and nephews, Michael Smola and Cedar Easterling, and niece, Julia Smola; and sister, Susan Rogers, Ada; brother, Clinton Duty, Tulsa, nephew Quinton Duty, Zachery Duty and wife Sarah, Tulsa, and niece, Karlee Duty, great-nephew Caden; and great-niece, Kylie; brother, Stan Rogers and wife Vicki, Mechanicsville, Ga., and nieces, Sarah Rogers and Claire Snelson and husband Joe; brother, Steve Rogers and wife Patti, Stillwater, niece, Stephanie Rogers, nephew, Seth Rogers; brother, Sam Rogers and wife Mary Anne, Santa Fe, N.M., niece, Samantha Sanders and husband Ryan, Albuquerque, N.M., nephew, Justin Vigil, Albuquerque; brother, Scott Rogers and wife Nicole, Albuquerque, N.M., nephew Cory Rogers and niece, Kayla Rogers; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

ADA — Services for Mary Rose Bazzell, 67, Ada, are 10 a.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Darrell Phillips, Jerry Eperson, Steve Hogue will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Bazzell died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at her home. She was born Jan. 27, 1941, at Palacios, Texas, to the Rev. W. J. and Mary Vandergriff.
She attended schools in Texas and California graduating in 1959 from McClatchey High School, Sacramento, Calif.
She married Charles E. Bazzell on March 10, 1962, in Sacramento, Calif. They moved to Oklahoma in 1972 where she worked for many years in retail sales in Ada. She retired from Goody's in 2006. Mrs. Bazzell was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy, working many years as children's director, Sunday school teacher and song leader.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Bazzell, of the home; one daughter, Cindy Bazzell, Ada; one son, Todd and wife Kerri, Mustang; three grandchildren, Laura, Collin, and Alec Bazzell, Mustang; three sisters, Marilyn Hearrell, Ada, Billie Brown and husband Bob, Ada, and Marie McDaniel, Pell City, Ala.; one brother, Kenneth Vandergriff, Sacramento, Calif; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.J. and Mary Vandergriff.
Bearers will be Leonard Croy, Richard Rambo, Rudy Sparr, Orville Jackson, Jim Carpenter, and Daryl McDaniel. Honorary bearers will be Robert Brown, Mike Brown, Rob Brown, Kevin McDaniel and Tommy Carpenter.
