MACOMB — Graveside services for Mary Sue Hudson Brown, 56, Macomb, are 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at Wanette Cemetery in Wanette. Visitation is Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa. Mrs. Brown died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at an Ada hospital.

DR. E. TRUMAN WESTER
DENISON, Texas — Services for Dr. E. Truman Wester, 90, are 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Denison, the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Eulogies will be delivered by Dr. Mack Broiles and Jim Cragg. Burial follows at Fairview Cemetery, Denison.
Family hour will be from 5-6 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Bratcher Funeral Home, Denison.
Dr. Wester was born Jan. 10, 1919, at Burneyville, Okla. He died July 1, 2009.
He graduated from Marietta High School in 1936. He received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla., in 1940; a master's in mathematics at the University of Oklahoma in 1948; and his Doctor of Education degree in educational administration and mathematics from Oklahoma University in 1958.
With 51 years of educational experience, he taught and served in administration at the University of Oklahoma, the University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma Baptist University, Holdenville Public Schools and Junior College, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Russell high School in Durant, Oklahoma and Grayson County College. He also taught four years in the Federal Aviation Agency Academy in Oklahoma City. He was the second president of Grayson County College serving from 1972 to 1982. He was named president emeritus of Grayson County College and in 2000 was named a distinguished alumnus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Wester was active in civic and church affairs for more than 70 years. In many of these organizations he served as president. These include the following: Public School Board of Edmond, Oklahoma; Kiwanis Club of Edmond, Oklahoma; Lions Club of Denison, Texas; Library Board of Denison, Texas; United Way of Grayson County; Texoma Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America; Texoma Regional Blood Center; Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas; United Way of Denison, Texas; and Grayson County Retired School Personnel Association. In 1996-1997, he served as Lions District Governor of District 2-E2. He was the founding president of the Texoma Regional Blood Center and was named Director Emeritus after 25 years of service.
He served as scoutmaster, cubmaster, explorer leader, troop committee chairman, field scout executive, district Chairman and council chairman for Boy Scouts of America. He was an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver Award. He also received the God and County Award through the First Baptist Church of Denison, Texas.
Dr. Wester served in the US Navy during World War II and was in the Naval Reserve for 23 years. He was a radar officer on the carrier, USS Bunker Hill, and received his radar training from Harvard University and MIT in Boston. After the war he served in the reserves including 11 years teaching in the Naval Reserve Officers’ School in Oklahoma City. He retired as a lieutenant commander.
He was active in church as Sunday School teacher and superintendent of both Sunday and Training Union. He served on the Christian Education Coordinating Board of Texas and on the executive board of the Texas Baptist General Convention. He also served as faculty advisor of Baptist Student Union and as a deacon in three different Baptist churches. At the time of his death, he was a member of the first Baptist Church in Denison, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Orren and Angie Wester, and his brother Jim.
He married Edna Earle Roling on Oct. 30, 1937. She died April 10, 2001. On Dec. 28, 2001, he married Ruth L. Krattiger of Durant, Okla.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; daughters and their husbands, Walter and Glenna Causey of Ada, Okla., Steve and Nancy Alley of Denison, Jerry and Jana Crew of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Sondra Bonds, Yukon, Okla.; grandchildren Scott and Shelley Myers of Moore, Okla., Kerry Causey of Duncan, Lacey Alley of Denison, Texas, Carol Causey of Ada, Jeff Causey of Grapevine, Texas; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Myers of Moore, Okla., and Peyton Connor Smith of Denison, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Denison; the Dr. Truman and Edna Wester Presidential Scholarship of Grayson County College; or the Dr. John T. and Ruth L. Krattiger Scholarship of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Durant, Oklahoma.
Bearers are Dr. Wayne Delaney, Bill Ashburn, Jack Lilley, Jim Cragg, Dr. Mack Broiles and Jeff Causey.
Honorary bearers are the Sunday School Class that he taught for many years.

PAULINE McCAWLEY
COUNCIL HILL — Services for Pauline Wood McCawley, 85, former Council Hill, Okla, were 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Council Hill Cemetery Pavilion, the Rev. Bob Wall officiating. Committal prayers and burial followed at Council Hill Cemetery, Council Hill.
Mrs. McCawley died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, in Redwood City, Calif. She was born Friday, Aug. 10, 1923, in Council Hill to Oscar and Jessie Breeding Wood.
Mrs. McCawley grew up in Council Hill and graduated from Council Hill High School. She later taught school in Council Hill and other surrounding area schools.
She married Fred McCawley in 1946. They moved to California in 1947 and settled in Redwood City in 1950. She worked as a bank clerk for Wells Fargo and Bank of America for many years, before she retired to become a homemaker. She attended Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. McCawley was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gene, Ralph and Carl Wood; and a sister, Violet Wood Crittenden.
Survivors include her husband, Fred of the home; two sons, Pat McCawley, Napa Valley, Calif., and Gary McCawley, Grass Valley, Calif.; two grandsons, Michael and Shane McCawley; one great-grandson, River McCawley; four nieces, Emilea Stephens and her husband Dean of Ada, Okla., Pam Haseloff and her husband Richard of Farwell, Texas, Jackie Cook and her husband Pete, Apache Junction, Ariz., and Debbie Wood, Oklahoma City; four nephews, Tom Crittenden, Venus, Texas, Paul Wood and his wife Gayle of Waterloo Iowa, Carl Wood, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Pearland Texas, and Randy Wood of North Carolina; and other extended family and many friends.
