THELMA EDWARDS
HOLDENVILLE — Funeral services for Thelma O. Peck Edwards, 90, Holdenville, were Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Standard officiating. Burial followed at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Mrs. Edwards was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Fanshawe, Okla., in LeFlore County to William Robert and Mattie Pennington Peck. After graduating from Atwood High School, she attended East Central State College in Ada and married Glenn Edwards in 1941. While her husband was in the service during World War II, Mrs. Edwards joined the war effort by working at North American Aviation in Grand Prairie, Texas. She and Mr. Edwards moved to Atwood in 1946 before moving to Holdenville in 1994.
Mrs. Edwards was a teacher for 33 years and retired in 1979. She was a member of Atwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn D. Edwards in 1995, sisters Bertie Peck Crabtree and Armon Peck Cagle and brothers Henry Noel Peck and Owen G. Peck.
Survivors include her twin sister, Velma O. Peck Davis of Atwood; sisters-in-law, Opal Edwards Berryhill of Midwest City and Nola Peck of Wewoka; nieces, Patricia Davis McMahan and Joleta Peck Stephens; nephews, Jack Cagle, Lloyd, Bobby and Donald Peck, Bill Davis and many other relatives and friends.

SULPHUR — Funeral services for Barbara Jane Howard, 79, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at First Christian Church in Sulphur. Burial follows at 3 p.m. at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, Okla.
Mrs. Howard is the wife of the Rev. Joe Howard. She died Sunday in Sulphur.

SASAKWA — Funeral services for Chance Daniel Smith, 26 days old, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22 at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa. A wake service is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.

ADA — Graveside services for Mary Sue Elizabeth Parker, 77, Ada, were held at an earlier date at Memorial Park Cemetery, the Rev. Carol Reich officiated.
Mrs. Parker died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, in Ada. She was born Aug. 21, 1930, at Ada to Richard D. and Ada Aldridge Runyans.
She attended school at Ada and graduated from Horace Mann High School. She was retired as a beauty operator and business owner. She and her husband opened State Beauty Supply Company in Ada in 1962. She was a volunteer at Carl Albert Hospital for 15 years and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Ada.
She married Billy Joe Parker Sept. 4, 1948, in Van Alstyne, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Joe Parker, of the home; a son, Russell S. Parker, Burleson, Texas; a daughter, Gretchen S. Johnson, Melbourne, Fla.; and two grandsons, Zac W. Abbott, Norman; and Brandon R. Parker, Burleson, Texas.

FITZHUGH — Services for Alma Mae Stewart, 97, Fitzhugh, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fitzhugh Baptist Church, the Rev. Steve Wilburn officiating. Burial follows at Lightning Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Stewart died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1911, at Shady Grove community near Vanoss to Jack and Alma Wagnon Dunn.
She attended school at Lightning Ridge and Fitzhugh schools and was a homemaker. She was a longtime active member of Fitzhugh Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She married Earl E. Stewart Nov. 15, 1930. He preceded her in death July 31, 1998.
Survivors include one son, Earl Stewart Jr. and wife Carol, Fitzhugh; one daughter, Phyllis Belt and husband Doug, Stratford; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ellen Crawford, Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mamie Solomon and Naomi Stanfield; and two brothers, John Dunn and Charley Dunn.
Bearers are Dub Tolliver, Joe Bradshaw, Charles Morrow, Don Boatright, Mitchell Priest and Joey Morrow.

MILES KIMMEL JR.
KINGSTON — Services for Miles Kimmel Jr., 80, Kingston, formerly of Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Dalan Larason and Ed Bristol will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Kimmel died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at a Madill hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1928, at Sapulpa to Miles Franklin and Jessie Syble Shadrick Kimmel.
He attended school in Bellflower, Calif.
He married Mary Lee Painter Oct. 25, 1947, in Silverton, Texas. He and his family moved to the Ada area in 1967 from Bristow. They moved to Kingston in 1995. Mr. Kimmel was employed with Halliburton and was also a farmer, and he was a member of the Enos Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kimmel, of the home; three daughters, Mary Etta Blansett, Bristow, Jessie Ellen Meaders, Stringtown, and Quetta Faye Kimmel, Kingston; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Kimmel, Lincoln, Neb., and Enoch Kimmel, Eufaula.
He was preceded in death by a son, Miles Randy Kimmel on July 13, 1996, and two sisters, Barbara Gurley and Wynona Fennell.
Bearers will be his grandsons, Elliott Blansett, Thom Snead, Mike Gash, Jason Fuller, Shaune Kimmel, Jimmy Myers, Jason Kimmel, Luke Kimmel, and Roger Dalke.
Honorary bearers will be great grandsons, Dalton Johnson, Wyatt Snead, C. J. Blansett, Seth Wright, Steven Wright, Ethen Kimmel, Braidyn Kimmel, Dylan Kimmel, Justin Myers, Aiden Dalke, Dustin Rabatine, and Brady Rabatine.

DON CLARK
ADA — Services for Donald Ray “Don” Clark, 69, Ada, are 10 a.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Farron Oliver will officiate. Burial will follow at Maxwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Clark died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at his home. He was born April 27, 1939, at Ada to Carson Thurlow and Eva Perry Clark.
He attended schools in Oakman, Francis and Byng and was a lifelong resident of this area.
Mr. Clark was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He served in the U.S. Army from April 27, 1956, until Aug. 23, 1957, and was of the Baptist faith.
He married Patsy Ruth Wall Feb. 6, 1961. She died Jan. 30, 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Dana Deatherage and husband Jerry, Francis; a son, Tim Clark and wife Rose, Pittsburg, Pa; a granddaughter, Dena Felkins and husband Boot, Fitzhugh; two grandsons, Dustin Johnson, Ada, and Ryan Sharrow, Nice, France; one great-grandchild, Jayden Johnson, Francis; one brother, Gene Clark and wife Nikki, Konawa; two sisters, Ardell Brown and husband Charles, Bedford, Texas, and Sue Clark, Ada; and a dear friend, Judy Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bonnie Brown, and a brother, Sam Clark.
Bearers will be Mark Manuel, Shannon Frederick, Jimmy Jennings Jr., Nathan Traylor, Michael Jordan, and Junior Grissom. Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Jennings, Floyd Burk, Eddie James, Junior Ring, Brandon Braddock, and Farmers State Bank employees.

SITKA, Alaska — Martin R. Strand of Sitka, Alaska died late Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, of complications from a fall. He is the father of Sara Brooks of Ada. Services will be held Friday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. in Sitka, Alaska under the direction of Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
