VIRGIE McGALLIARD
ADA — Services for Virgie Illene "MeMe" McGalliard, 84, Ada, are 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2099, at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating is the Rev. Shawn Wiebers. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGalliard died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Ada. She was born Sept. 28, 1924, in Jasper, Ark., to Charlie Harrison and Mary Henderson Braden.
She married Roy C. McGalliard Sept. 9, 1949, at Fayetteville, Ark. He died Nov. 20, 1966.
Mrs. McGalliard graduated from Vanoss High School. She moved to California and was employed as a welder in the Kaiseer Shipyards in Richmond, Calif. She moved to Oklahoma City and owned and operated Mac's Dairy Boy. In 1964, they moved back to Ada where she managed the Dollar General Store retiring in 1982. She was a member of Crosspointe Church and associated with the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include a son, Larry Joe McGalliard and wife Judy of Winchester, Tenn.; two daughters, Debi Gifford, Norman, and Teresa Tweedy, Ada; seven grandchildren, Brandy Poe and husband Kevin of Tennessee, Corey McGalliard and wife Sarah of Tennessee, Kara Stone and husband Eric of Ada, Phillip Tweedy of Edmond, Brittany Venk and husband Ryan of Norman, Amy Gifford of New York, N.Y.; eight great-grandchildren, Gunner, Rowan, Kieran Poe of Tennessee, Katelyn, Alexis, Aleah McGalliard of Tennessee, Cason Stone of Ada, and Hayes Venk of Norman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. McGalliard; a son, Gary McGalliard; a son-in-law, Lane Gifford; her parents; two sisters and four brothers.
Bearers are grandsons and nephews.

STONEWALL — Services for Marvin Leon Brownen, 88, Stonewall, are 11 a.m. Monday at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Ada, the Rev. Greg Pollard will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Brownen died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 24, 1920, at Coalgate to E.A. and Abbie Estes Brownen.
He attended Anadarko school.
He married Beatrice Richardson on Nov. 1, 1946. She died July 12, 2009.
Mr. and Mrs. Brownen moved back to this area in the 1980s from Carson, Calif. He was an electric furnace operator for Armco Steel Company in California for 29 1⁄2 years. He attended Faith Assembly of God Church and had served in the U.S. Army with the 318th Infantry during World War II in the European Theatre.
Survivors include four daughters, Judy Smith and husband Bill, Taylor, Ariz., Laquita Wilson and husband Larry, Boron, Calif., Sharen Julian, Rancho Murieta, Calif., and Beverly Harris and husband Michael, Stonewall; one son, Larry Brownen and wife Kathy, Winton, Calif.; a brother, Gene Brownen, Ardmore; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Bearers will be the Chickasaw Honor Guard.
