VINITA OLIVER

BROKEN ARROW — Memorial services for Vinita June Oliver, 79, wife of Clarence G. Oliver Jr., long-time Broken Arrow Superintendent of Schools and Dean Emeritus at Oral Roberts University, are Friday. She died Monday, Oct. 19, at her home in Broken Arrow.

The daughter of Arthur Lee and Alva "Sally" Shirley, Mrs. Oliver was born in Pauls Valley March 10, 1930. She moved with her family to Ada in 1942 when she was 12 years old. She attended Ada Public Schools, graduated from Ada High School in 1948, and continued her education at East Central College (now East Central University) in Ada, studying elementary education and home economics.

Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lee and Alva "Sally" Shirley, two brothers, Jerry Lee Shirley and Charles Ray Shirley.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence of the home in Broken Arrow; two sons, Paul A. Oliver and his wife, Kathy, of Catoosa; Mark G. Oliver and his wife, Shelly, of Tulsa; a daughter, Shirley June Parsons and her husband, Philip, of Broken Arrow, and two sisters-in-law, Alice M. Shirley, Deming, N.M., and Jane A. Arnold and her husband, Jack, of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren, James Patrik Oliver and his wife, Amanda, Broken Arrow; Shane G. Oliver and Amy, Broken Arrow; Cody M. Oliver, Broken Arrow, a student at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater; Shannon Leigh Martinez and her husband, Stephen Martinez, Catoosa; Ryan Lee Parsons, Broken Arrow; John Oliver Parsons, Broken Arrow, and Elizabeth June Parsons, Broken Arrow and a student at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater; three great-grandchildren, Grady Mitchell Oliver and Ashtyn Rose Oliver, Broken Arrow, and Haven Leigh Martinez, Catoosa and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests that friends donate in her memory to one of Mrs. Oliver’s favorite charities, either Broken Arrow Neighbors, Inc., 322 West Broadway, Broken Arrow, OK 74012-3817, or the Margaret Hudson Program, Broken Arrow. 751 West Knoxville Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74012-3703.

BECKY McKAY

STRATFORD — Services for Rebecca Elaine "Becky" Reed McKay, 60, Stratford, are 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at New Beginnings Church, Stratford, the Rev. Charles McGreggor officiating. Burial follows at 3:30 p.m. in Noble at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery (IOOF.)

Mrs. McKay died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Norman. She was born Jan. 18, 1949, to Jesse Ernest Reed Sr. and Sally Sanders Reed in Duncan.

She graduated from Comanche High School in 1967. She worked for several years in the banking industry and bail bonding business. At the time of her death, she was in the real estate business with her husband, Al, in Stratford. She was a member of the Chickamauga Cherokee Tribe of Arkansas and a member of New Beginnings Church in Stratford.

She married Albert McKay in 1998 at Sulphur.

Survivors include her husband, Al, of the home; a son, Scott Philpot and his wife Kay Lynn, Tuttle; granddaughter, Montana, Philpot, Tuttle; two sisters, El Juana Pollock and husband Don, Noble, and Judy Young, Burbank, Calif.; six nieces, Vicki Pollock and Heather Young, both of Norman, Cathy Gedik and Joanie Reed, both of Texas, Lisa Reed, California, and Frankie Cary, Ardmore; three nephews, Gary Pollock, Noble, Eddie Reed, Spring, Texas, and Paul Jarod Young, Burbank, Calif.; her husband's children and their families, Laquita Dayton and husband Wayne, Alan McKay and his wife Kathy, all of Sulphur, and Alan's daughters, Brandy Vallandingham, Melanie and Bobby Cody of Fulton, Md., and their daughters, Emmie and Alle; and many other family members and friends.

Mrs. McKay was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Sally Reed, two brothers, Jessee Ernest Reed Jr. and Seborne Max Del Reed and a niece, Debra Reed.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Rohi Food Distribution Ministry, P.O. Box 463, Sulphur, OK. 73086.
